Alan Jarrett
Chairman of KWCA

Alan Jarrett has been wildfowling for over 50 years, mostly in Kent but variously around other English and Scottish estuaries and firths and latterly abroad. He is widely experienced in all facets of the sport, and is particularly fond of tide flighting and decoying for duck in the estuaries of North Kent.

He has worked extensively as an administrator in the sport and has become one of the longest serving wildfowling volunteers still active today. Elected as Chairman of the Kent Wildfowling and Conservation Association in 1983 he has been a driving force in the advance of land acquisition and management amongst wildfowling clubs throughout the country.

A founder member of the BASC’s Wildfowling Liaison Committee in 1984, he was elected to BASC Council in 1989 and became Vice-Chairman in 1997. He was elected BASC Chairman in 2002 – his term of office on BASC Council expired in June 2004, but was later re-elected.

A well-known country sports writer, his first book – Wildfowling – One Winter’s Tale – was published in 1988, with Shooting At Clays published in 1991. To date he has published over 600 articles on all facets of country sports and conservation, together with more recent political writings.
