Conservation
KWCA
have a Conservation Officer and a number of Site Managers whose responsibility
is to manage the Associations many reserves.
The club already protects over 9,500 acres of reserves
and wild spaces in Kent and further afield, much of which are designated
as a Site
Of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). The club is justifiably proud
of its efforts towards conservation and regular data collection is made
on reserves to monitor the areas effectiveness as a refuge for birds,
mammals, reptiles, fish and other species.
For example, amongst the work that the club is currently undertaking at
Cooling, is the excavation of two new scrapes to increase the feeding
area available to wader broods during the breeding season.

BIRD CENSUS Our Responsibility:
If we failed to actively conserve our wildfowl, the sport itself would
soon cease to exist. In the words of King George VI who was himself a
keen wildfowler:
"The wildfowl of today is not ours
to dispose of as we please. We have it in
trust. We must account for it to those who come after".
