Conservation
KWCA Conservation Principles
By the early 1980s the wildfowling world was changing, with conservation
elements receiving higher profile. For wildfowlers conservation had always
been of high importance with many wildfowler-initiated projects leading
the way in terms of wetland conservation.
For the Kent Wildfowlers Association 1983 was a watershed. The Association
decided it was time to reinforce its considerable conservation credentials,
and at a meeting on 13th April, 1983 the following Resolution was passed:
WE RESOLVE THAT: We the members
of the Kent Wildfowlers Association do and
hereby reaffirm our commitment and dedication to the cause of conservation.
AND THAT: The Committee is hereby
directed that this must be a very
important principle in the formulation of the policy of the Association
and
the general conduct of it affairs.
AND THAT: This be publicly acknowledged by the change of name
of the
Association to the Kent Wildfowling and Conservation Association at
the
annual general meeting next.
This name change was subsequently ratified at the following
AGM in September of that year.
