Gundog Working Tests
50th Anniversary Annual Gundog Working Tests 2003
The 2003 gundog tests, were held at Egypt Bay
by very kind permission of Mr Ian Maclean. Many thanks to those who helped
on the day to ensure the events smooth running, to John Forsey for his
generosity with advertising and raffle prizes and to Peter Masters Dog
Foods for their sponsorship.
Be careful of what you wish for! the organisers wished for good weather,
boy did we get it!!! Gravesend recorded the highest temperatures in the
UK on record; fortunately most of the tests were across water so the dogs
were able to keep cool. spite of their remarks
none of the handlers stripped off to join their four legged partners.
I would like to thank our Judge Mr Bernard Bluck whose previous experience
in judging a Northern Ireland International Team event came in useful
We had 37 entries with one handler coming 300 miles from Devon
and another coming back from holiday 1 day early in order to compete.
The awards were presented by KWCA Chairman Alan Jarrett to the following:
Puppy/Novice

1st Mr R Suthers Labrador Charlie of Flyline

2nd Mr S Henderson Labrador Tilly 49/60
3rd Mr M Ragless English Springer Spaniel Benson 44/60

It was good to see the KWCA working gundog tests
back to their former glory after a 2 year absence, and we look forward
to just as good an event next year.
