Gundog Working Tests
Annual Gundog Working Tests 2004.

This years gundog tests were held on Sunday 15th August at Egypt Bay, by kind permission of
Ian McLean. The event was sponsored by John Forsey Gun shop and Peter Masters Dog Foods. Well done to Eamonn Evans for organising yet another well run & successful event.

There was a very high attendance with 25 entries in the Novice/Puppy class and 13 in the Open, it was great to see such a wide variety of breeds as well as10 puppys [dogs under 2 years]

Thank you to all the competitors for their patience during the tests due to the exceptionally large number of entries. The weather was a lot kinder to us this year with a good scenting breeze and
just a few spots of rain. The presentation did not take long as this is when most of the rain fell!

Pat Gough, Mark Robinson and John Palmer helped pitching tents, throwing dummies and stewarding.

Ray and June Lucas ran the popular gun dog Scurry with together with Doug Arnold.
which was a great success with over 40 entries. This was a new venture for us and the mixture of water retrieves and dry land retrieves gave us some tense 'needle' matches between Lab and Springer owners. The end result being separated by just a few seconds. The proceeds of the scurry have financed some much needed new gun dog dummies for the club.

John Forsey Guns was very generous in supplying the raffle prizes and Peter Masters Dog Foods supplied all the prizes. KWCA would like to thank both of these sponsors for their help, as well as to Bernard Bluck our Judge. Bernard did a fantastic job putting first time competitors at ease, and doing his best to get all the dogs to achieve success.

2005 working test
If you are entering this years tests[2005] please help us by getting your entries in as soon as possible as we may have to use more than one Judge if the entries are as high again. Even if you do not enter your dog in the tests come and have a go at the Scurry. If your dog retrieves its in with a chance!!!!
