Gundog Working Tests
Annual Gundog Working Tests 2nd August 2009.

This year totalled to an amazing 84 entries.
Obviously Egypt Bay is becoming "the" place to be in test calendar.
The amount of entries stretched our resources, but all of the helpers and the three judges, led by Tony Turner assisted by Dan Higgs and Sophie Mills, coped admirably. It was especially good to see the competitors that had to wait a little longer to run showing great patience. Our excellent teams running the refreshment tent helped to smooth this along.
Brian Wade, with help from his son Luke was kept busy on the scurry all day, finding time to offer advice and giving a demonstration with a couple of his own excellently trained and handled spaniels after the event.

The runs this year were a little more testing than last year, which made things more "interesting". Two memorable tests, the Puppy walk up, which really stretched the steadiness of the youngsters and the Open Test across water, with a 30 yard swim across the wide dyke to a retrieve fifty yards back from the top of the sea wall, the scent must have been drifting down each side of the wall which even caught out some of the top dogs. So much so that any quick success brought applause from the waiting competitors.
All winners and placed runners fully deserved their awards.
As is always the case events of this kind would be impossible to run if it were not for the support of the team. Some of these helpers are not wildfowlers or even gun dog owners; they are just the kind of people who are there for you when needed, so a big thank you to them.
